Famous Sight

Known for "Reputed Mountains on the Sea", Taizhou has 62 natural scenic spots and 62 artificial sights, which contain more than 10 scenic spots of national level. Taizhou has its own tourist routes.

Linhai, a national historical and cultural city of China

Linhai with a history of over 2,100 years assembles cultural relics. Taizhou Ancient City Wall site, over 6,000 meters long, is one of the Grade-4A tourist sites of the country. Built in Eastern Jin Dynasty, it is reputed as "the Great Wall of South China". Jinshan Park and East Lake Park in the city proper are another two lovely scenic spots

Mt. Tiantai, a national key scenic spot of China

Mt. Tiantai, the birthplace of both Tiantai-sect of Chinese Buddhism and Southern-sect of Chinese Taoism, has some key scenic spots such as Guoqing Temple, Shiliang, Chicheng Hill, Hanshan Lake and Huading Peak. Guoqing Temple, as the ancestral temple of Tiantai-sect of Japanese and Korean Buddhism, has as yet enjoyed over 3.00 million Tiantai-sect Buddhists in Japan, South Korea and Southeast Asia. Shiliang Waterfall is listed as one of the top 10 scenic spots of Zhejiang. In 2000, Mt. Tiantai was appraised as one of the first Grade-4A scenic spots in China.

Xianju, a national key scenic spot of China

Famous for primeval forest, this scenic spot with primeval forest, ravine and broad leaved evergreen forest zone, has 25 species of trees and almost 100 kinds of rare birds and beasts. Drifting along the clean water of Yong'an Stream would be a fantastic taste. There are 5 major scenic areas such as Jingxingyan, Shenxianju, Shisandu, Danzhu and Gongyu, with more than 60 sight spots.

Linhai Taozhu Provincial Scenic Site

A national geologic park. This site contains: the ancient castle of Taozhu famous for Qi Jiguang, a general of Ming Dynasty, fighting against ancient Japanese pirates; Wukeng Sight Area and Coral Rock Sight Area. Here it is also the place where the fossil of pterosaur of Jurassic period was discovered.

Square Mount - Nansong Rock, a provincial scenic area

Consisting of great Square Mountain, grand Lion Peak and deep Dragon Gate, this scenic area comes down in one continuous line with Mt. Yandang, a sight area of national level. Thick with reefs and hillocks, and interwoven with brooks, this area is green all the year round.

Being the cavern sight built up through quarrying for more than 1,500 years, this area has 28 cavern groups and 1,314 caverns jointing one another. In 2002 it was appraised as one of the Grade-4A tourist areas in China.

Dachen Island

Reputed as "Pearl on the Sea", Dachen Island lying at the Dacheng offing of East China Sea is famous for the well-developed Dachen Fishing Harbor and its "10 scenic spots and 4 memorials" including Jiawu Cliff Coast and Meiling Pavilion.

Dalu Island

Dalu Island

Dalu Island, "the Jade in East China Sea", is the only sea forest park of national level, loved by people who are fond of returning to the nature. Meanwhile, it is an island of art, full of rock carvings all over the island.

Shitang Fishing Village

Shielded by Mt. Shitang and surrounded by sea in three directions, this Village is exceptional in building style, for its buildings and roads built up of stone blocks form the random-strewn stone-house groups, integrating sea sight, particular buildings and fishing village.
